One of the most downloaded bands at mp3.com when that site was the most popular mp3 site on the internet! Digital Pump’s songs range from indudtrial, Dark Wave and Trance/Techno. Influences include but aren’t limited to Danny Elfman, Thomas Dolby, Yaz, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, The Prodogy and other similar artists. Digital Pump’s composer, musician, and programmer is Robert Wright. Robert has been a professional musician for over 30+ years. His style initiated as that of a Heavy Metal guitarist/vocalist influenced by bands such as Anthrax, Judas Priest, Pantera, Metallica, and similar artists (although his personal style ranged much farther than these). Robert has performed in most Hollywood/Los Angeles “club” venues and at one time shared recording studios alongside the likes of Megadeth and Billy Idol at Track Records in Studio City. Robert says “Digital Pump was not very warmly received by its peers at Mp3.com because lets face it, a Heavy Metal guy doing Electronic music just isn’t done according to them. I ignored them and pressed on doing what I liked, mixing styles of music. Fortunatly for me the fans of this project loved the music and it did extremely well! Atomic Sub and Technical XTC hit number one on the Top 40 Charts there plus had Over 1 million listens and sold thousands of CDs!”
I unfortunately drifted away from this Digital Pump after the MP3.com site was purchased, scavenged and eventually KILLED by Vivendi Universal in 2004. I am sure I will revisit this project at some point in time but for the time being it is on hold.
